Doing a research on the techniques of stitching, I felt intrigued by the variety of programs found on a sewing machine. Every sewing program has its own applicability, either practically or aesthetically. By using Lycra -which is a highly stretchable fabric- and performing all kinds of stitches, I noticed that the stitches began to control the behaviour and stretch within the fabric. By systematically testing all varieties of stitches and summarizing their stretch percentages, I could come up with a concept for a seating wherein the stitches determine the stretch of the fabric. This way the seat forms to the shape of the body when pressure is applied.
