Mass production has found its way across the world. The products are machine made on a large scale. The production process is so perfect that all the marks of making are virtually erased. Part of the product’s identity is lost. By showing traces of the production process identity is regained. Consumers are challenged to wonder how mass products are being made. This remake of the Ikea FÄRGRIK series earthenware plates gives away the production process instead of hiding it. The pivot and the carved lines reveal the rotational motion of the clay- throwing machine. The details become a narrative; an essential part to enhance attachment to mass-produced products.
